As of May 2004, DayStar Danes decided to go
with natural ears on our one litter.
Because of that, we have decided to now strongly
consider natural ears over cropped.
This however, does not mean we will completely
stop owning or breeding dogs that are cropped.
Our bent will, however, be towards natura ears, though.
This decision may be one thing you have to consider
when considering a puppy from us.
We appreciate our standards wordage in allowing
this breed to be shown cropped or un/cropped.
As an American Citizen, I feel that the freedom of
choice is what sets us apart from may other lands.
The right to choose this practice on our animals
is what makes us unique in this world.
Many countries have already outlawed this practice
so please, reconsider when you desire to want
to ban all cropping.  Our right to stand for both
looks is what makes our Great Dane Breed
so unique.

We have decided to make this decision
to not crop some of our dogs in the future and so
because of these reasons:
1.  We love the look of the un-cropped Great Dane
2.  The price of taping and up keep on the cropped ear.
The enjoyment we had raising our un-cropped bitch
out weighs the time and effort it has taken to
care for our cropped danes in the past.
3.  This is not because of any radical decision towards
cruelty.  We like cropped Great Danes and the look
and I support all my peers and friends that will
continue to crop.  It has not changed my
impression on the look of a cropped Great Dane.
I still enjoy looking at a regal cropped dog.
